Motivational School Talks

Olympic medalist Bryan Steel who is the DARE Sport Manager, is responsible for delivering a wide variety of sporting and recreational projects.

The DARE Sport programme is a project aimed at working to extend the values of the DARE Primary and Secondary curriculum through a variety of sports, including cycling and football.  The programme aims to teach children to focus on issues such as health and wellbeing, team interaction and personal goals.  These values which build upon our Primary course achievements will help to encourage children to make the right decisions throughout adolescence and for the rest of their lives.

In Bryan’s role with DARE, and as a  Sporting Ambassador for 100% ME, part of UK Sport, he has visited many schools, and delivered many talks about his life before sport and how cycling has changed his life. Now we are pleased to offer the opportunity for Bryan to visit your local school.

Sporting Ambassadors

Many successful drug-free athletes and sporting role models have committed themselves to using the 100% ME programme as a platform to promote anti-doping and to lead the global fight against doping in sport.

A 100% ME Sporting Ambassador is a successful sports person who is or has competed at the very highest level. This athlete has openly condemned the use of performance enhancing substances in sport and has proven that you can achieve the very best in your field without using them.

A 100% ME Sporting Ambassador educates, promotes and acts as a role modal to younger up and coming athletes. So, when an athlete is on the start line, it will 100% them, as it’s what’s inside that counts.

Paula Radcliffe, Jonny Wilkinson and Bryan Steel are 100% ME Ambassadors, promoting anti-doping, and celebrating the honourable success of many of our most admired sporting heroes. They also support DARE (UK) as they believe that our children must receive the support and education they deserve.

QUOTES

‘I fully support DARE (UK) in actively promoting the use of healthy sporting activities within and outside the school environment.  Providing children with the opportunity to develop life skills that will help them to make healthy and informed decisions throughout their lives”

Jonny Wilkinson

‘I support DARE (UK) in their work to educate children about the effects and potential risks associated with the use of drugs, including medicines, alcohol, tobacco, volatile substances and cannabis.”

Paula Radcliffe

“I support DARE (UK) because it is vitally important to increase children’s’ knowledge and understanding of drugs, including medicines, alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and volatile substances. DARE also equips children with the skills to deal with different sources of pressure, manage conflict, and be aware of the consequences of anti-social behaviour, on selves and the community”
